Supplies needed:

  • Rubber bands (I like to use clear ones so they don’t show).
  • Various ribbons
  • A cardboard paper towel tube
  • A toy, cloth safe diaper cream, bow or other accent for the top of the cake

3

Directions:

First, you will roll the inserts.

4

Start on one end and roll them in a tight swiss roll.

Secure the roll with a rubber band.

Repeat with all sets of inserts.

Next roll the diaper covers.

Start with the diaper laying flat.

11

Fold the diaper in half, and then roll the shell just like the inserts into a swiss roll.

Secure with a rubber band, and repeat with all of the diaper covers.

Third, assemble the tower.

16

The paper towel tube will be the center post that holds the cake up.

Place an insert roll against the paper towel roll, and secure a rubber band around it.

17

Continue to place the rolled inserts around the tube until you have used all insert rolls.

 18

Using the rolled shells, make a second layer above the rolled inserts.

Secure the shells around the tube with a rubber band.

22

Place an additional rubber band around the top of the diaper shells to make them secure.

Use the remaining tube at the top of the cake to secure a topper.

24

A stuffed animal is easy to use since you can wrap the arms and legs around the tube!

You can add a cloth diaper safe cream or other small baby item to hide the remaining tube.

28

Finally, put on the finishing touches. Cover the rubber bands with your choice of ribbon. Pick colors that go with the color scheme or theme!

29

And that’s it! This diaper cake is sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face!
