We’ve Got A Zoo!

Another exciting print?! You’ve got it! You asked, and we listened!

Presenting Lalabye Baby’s exclusive print:

Featuring six of your favorite zoo animals decked out in patterns and designs, Doodle Zoo is full of fun! The splashes of our favorite solid Lalabye Baby colors make the diaper gorgeous on its own, or the black and white outline of the designs provide an opportunity for color to be added. With a large print layout with tossed animals all about, there is no bad bum placement for this diaper!

Let’s meet the stars of this print: the animals!

  • Less tame than horses and more likely to buck
  • Herds are called harems
  • Each striped pattern is unique like a fingerprint
  • Newborns have brown and white stripes at first
  • The mother keeps the foal away from the group for 2-3 days so the baby can memorize her scent, voice, and what she looks like

Zebras have always been one of my favorite animals. To me they are simple and complex at the same time. I was thrilled when my daughter showed interest in zebras when we visited our local zoo! My husband gave all the credit to their high contrast markings, but I think she just has good taste like her mama! -Sarah R.

  • Have skin-covered knobs, called ossicones, on the top of their heads; female ossicones are smaller and have a small tuft of fur on top, while male ossicones are bald on the top
  • Only spend 10 minutes-two hours asleep per day standing up. They have one of the shortest sleep requirements of any mammal. – second only to moms of small children 😉
  • When baby is born, it drops up to 6 feet to the ground and lands on its head. The San Diego Zoo claims this does not hurt the baby giraffe at all, but makes it take a deep, first breath!
  • Giraffes can moo, hiss, roar and whistle
  • Highly respected in many African tribes
  • Used in many children’s books to talk about looking different
  • Tallest mammal in the world

When my husband and I were dating, for one of our anniversaries he surprised me by taking me to a local safari sanctuary nearby. We rode in a jeep and got to see all the animals they had been rehabilitating and/or rescued. He always knew my favorite animal was a giraffe and that I collected giraffe figurines. On the safari, we got to feed real life giraffes, and he even got licked by one with its very long, slimy, green-blue tongue. It was one of the coolest and grossest things I’ve ever seen. I will never forget that day. -Brenda

Kenya is my favorite place on the planet. I went when I was in high school, most members of my family have gone, and I have close friends that live in Kenya. On safari, seeing giraffes in their home land was incredible (as was all the other animals). My boys’ nursery has always been Safari themed, and giraffes are one of my favorites to see depicted in prints and carvings! -Kim S.

  • Name means “water horse”
  • Group is called a herd, pod, dale, or bloat
  • Spend most of their time in the water to keep their temperature down
  • Closest relations are cetaceans (whales and dolphins)
  • Can outrun a human
  • One of the most dangerous animals in Africa
  • Skin secretes an oily red substance (producing the myth that they sweat blood) which acts as a skin moistener and sunblock
  • Needs to resurface every 3 – 5mins to breathe- a process that is automatic; while sleeping underwater, they will rise and breathe without waking

Our entire nursery is decked out in hippos, mainly because my husband has a running joke with his friends that he loves hippos. He has a “Hungry Hippo Games” shirt that he wore on our date to see The Hunger Games. We brought a hippo figurine on our honeymoon in Europe to take pictures with at famous landmarks (Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum, etc). And a few years ago, I bought him “a hippopotamus for Christmas” by symbolically adopting a hippo for him through the World Wildlife Fund. – Kristen

  • Travel in a herd of 10 or more elephants and lead by a female
  • Only mammals that can’t jump
  • Longest pregnancy of all the animals-22 months from conception to give birth- calf weighs about 230 lbs!
  • Purr (like cats do) as a means of communication
  • Prefer one tusk over the other, just as people are either left or right-handed
  • Can cry, play, have incredible memories, laugh, express grief, compassion, self-awareness, altruism, and play
  • Highly sensitive and caring animals; if a baby elephant complains, the entire family will rumble and go over to touch and caress it, and they sometimes “hug” by wrapping their trunks together in displays of greeting and affection
  • Pay homage to the bones of their dead, gently touching the skulls and tusks with their trunks and feet. When an elephant walks past a place that a loved one has died, he/she will stop dead still: a silent and empty pause that can last several minutes

For my family, elephants have a special meaning because both of our moms love and collect elephants. So when we planned our nursery, the only thing I knew that I wanted was elephants in there because then our moms both had a presence with our kids. Elephants are also the reason I found Lalabye Baby… when I saw an elephant diaper, I had to have it! So excited to continue adding to our elephant collection! – Yvette

  • Are the only species of cats that live in a group (a pride)
  • Prides consist of up to three males, and around a dozen females
  • Only males have manes
  • Females (lioness) are the hunters 💪🏻❤️#girlpower
  • Roar can be heard up to 5 miles away
  • Once found in the wild throughout Africa, Asia, and Europe, but now exists only in Africa
  • The darker a lion’s mane the older he is

My lion obsession began when my mother explained what my Leo zodiac sign meant. I spent my life collecting lion everything. My lion collection is almost as big as my lala collection. – Emily

  • Of all of the animals featured on Doodle Zoo, tigers are the only ones that do not live in a herd, pack, pride, or other group
  • Solitary except during mating season (obviously) and while the mamas raise their babies
  • Largest of the cat species
  • Excellent swimmers
  • Live only on the Asian continent in the wild
  • All species of tiger are endangered
  • Five species exist in the wild and one only in captivity
I have always loved tigers since I was little! And now they are a favorite around our house as we cheer on our LSU Tigers! – Sara O.
Just like the Costa Collection, Doodle Zoo will only be available until we and our retailers run out. This is a Lalabye Exclusive print and it is limited. Be sure to hunt one down today!
